Tinmen rivets shall be used in round type letter box conforming to IS 866/57 (Reaffirmed 2001) - YES
Locks for TV type letter box shall be of brass.The levers of locks shall be machine cut from brass sheet. - YES
Painting - Round and pillar type letter boxes : Sheet shall be thoroughly degreased,scrapped and the one coat of zinc-chrome primer conform to IS 104/1979 with amdt 1,2,&3. on outside.Two coats of ready mixed paint conform to IS 13607/92 with amdt No1 of post office red shade NO.538 of IS 5/2004.Then coat of quick drying pale varnish to IS524/83 except back,bottom &inside . On back ,bottom and inside of letter box,a coat of quick drying anti-corrosive black paint to IS:158 with amdt No.1 &2 shall be given.
