As the name implies is a versatile tool for research and small volume production. It has a distinct advantage over the conventional methods of pressure stirring ,magnetic stirring colloid mills etc It specimen are subjected to intense shock waves at the rate of about 25000 times per second. This results in the total degradation and homogenization of the specimen .This method depends upon the on the intensity of sound waves in the medium to be treated .The is maintained sufficiently high to produce cavitations in the sample being treated .During cavitations the passage of shock waves at sound frequency will cause very rapid alterations of pressure resulting in formation of large masses of minute vacuous bubbles. These bubbles grow and pulsate through several cycles until a critical size is reached ,the magnitude of which being a function of the frequency used. At this stage the bubbles explode giving rise to intense shock waves ..
